Ty is a special boy. Him and his brother were the only survivors of a re-absorbed litter and were born at 4 and 5 oz's. Ty himself took a half-hour to get breathing and if we had been any later neither puppy and possibly Desi would have made it. You would never know way a tough beginning this goof-ball had. His sense of humor is everlasting and he is always searching for ways to make you laugh (just ask the judges and people standing ringside during his obedience runs;). This sense of humor like no other and it is impossible to have a bad run with him-even if its not qualifying he is just a blast to work.
Ty is a multiple Best of Breed and Most Versatile Aussie winner as well as a High in Trial winner in both obedience and stock. He and his older half-sister Rainie are third generation CarMel owned dogs. HOF CH Katie is their grandma, and her daughter HOF CH Desi is their mom. At the 2005 Nationals in Georgia he earned a 192 at a pre show then a 189 at nationals in a tough ring to finish his CD at only 21 months old. He has also been picking up some nice comments on the conformation ring and made the cut in a tough BBX class at an 05' pre show. He finished his Championship in February of 2007 and will be specialed sparingly. He is also a stellar Jr handling dog and helped Heather earn a spot in the ASCA 500 Club. He has earned all his stock titles almost consecutively with very limited training/trialing (due to Heather being in college) but finished his Advanced Sheep with High Sheep/HITA/HIT/and High Combined. At the 2006 Nationals he qualified for MVA and helped Heather earn Most Versatile Junior. June of 2007 Ty was Most Versatile Aussie at the OASC shows/trials with an 88/90 under BJ Jonna Cole in the conformation evaluation. He then repeated the feat in August with a Best of Breed Friday night and Most Versatile Aussie Saturday.
Now that the WTCH is completed, Ty and Heather are going to start trialing in the Farm Dog Program and also start training for Post-Advanced Sheep./tracking. Maybe our first PCH??? Did we mention he is "college dog extraordinaire? Ty is patient enough to wait while Heather studies, great with large groups of people (always center of attention), the perfect running buddy, and.......can fetch bottles out of the fridge;-) He is going to be a life-saver during the next four years of Vet school!!!!!
Ty is also turning into a very devoted co-lead dog (Oreo gets jealous if he gets put in the back) . He really enjoys pulling and can go for miles without tiring. His other passion is swimming...he can swim for hours and still will only come in if he has too. Ty even had the opportunity to do some water fowl retrieval (Heather was working with a Spinoni breeder) and proved to have a very soft mouth and excellent water searching skills...can you say versatile? Not a feather was harmed on the birds he brought in.
